Leighton Baines struggled for Everton today, going by the fans’ reaction.

Everton fans on Twitter are slamming Leighton Baines for his performance in Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Bournemouth.

The Toffees took the lead on 56 minutes through Theo Walcott, despite Everton being down to 10 men following Richarlison’s red card late in the first half.

Michael Keane added another for the Goodison Park club midway through the second period, after Adam Smith was red carded for the hosts.

Marco Silva’s side looked well on course for the three points, but Baines conceded a clumsy penalty with 15 minutes to go as Joshua King converted, before Nathan Ake grabbed a shock equaliser for the Cherries only four minutes later.

And some Everton fans reckon that Baines, 33, is mostly at fault for allowing Eddie Howe’s side a route back into the game.

It’s a good thing that Silva and Everton’s Director of Football Marcel Brands signed Lucas Digne, who was named on the bench, but the former Paris Saint-Germain left-back will surely now come in to replace the veteran Baines.
