The Everton right-back didn’t have a good afternoon on Saturday.

Everton fans on Twitter haven’t reacted well to Jonjoe Kenny’s performance in Saturday’s 3-2 defeat by Newcastle United at St James’s Park.

The Toffees led 2-0 at half-time but a second-half collapse made it a dreadful day for Marco Silva’s side.

Silva was forced to play the Finch Farm graduate after regular right-back Seamus Coleman fell ill during Everton’s warm-up.

But the 21-year-old wasn’t ready to replace the Irishman and it showed in his performance, with Newcastle’s Miguel Almiron targeting him on several occasions during the game.

Kenny, a Finch Farm academy graduate, was also caught out of position at times and Everton fans have slated him on Twitter:

This was a big game for Kenny.

The youngster has been stuck behind Coleman in the pecking order on Merseyside for a couple of years now.

But the Irishman hasn’t looked himself in recent months and it was a big chance for Kenny to stake a claim over finally displacing him in Silva’s best XI, but it didn’t work out for the kid.
