Everton lost 1-0 to rivals Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.

Everton were left devastated at Anfield on Sunday evening as they lost 1-0 to bitter rivals Liverpool in bizarre fashion.
The Toffees went into the game with a dismal record at Anfield, but were playing some fine football under Marco Silva, and really should have been winning at half time after a golden chance for Andre Gomes.
Everton controlled the midfield, looked threatening going forward and solid at the back, but ended up without a point as Jordan Pickford fumbled Virgil van Dijk’s high shot, and Divock Origi headed home.
Pickford’s error could barely be replicated again, it was so bizarre, but the fact remains that Everton lost and must now bounce back against Newcastle United in midweek.
Whilst the plaudits have been coming in for many players, midfielder Idrissa Gana Gueye has come in for criticism for his performance in Sunday’s 1-0 defeat.

The Senegal ace was wasteful in possession and has even shouldered some blame for the later winner, as he was thought to be time-wasting, which led to more time being added one and Liverpool scoring.
Fans took to Twitter to blast Gueye’s display, calling him out of his depth and a weak link in the Everton side against a top team, noting that he’s a liability in possession and simply not good enough.
