Everton picked up their first win since the Premier League resumed, having beaten Norwich City 1-0 at Carrow Road this evening.
The Toffees drew 0-0 with local rivals Liverpool on Sunday, and were hoping for a win as they made the trip down to Norfolk.
After a goalless first half, Everton took the lead when Michael Keane buried Lucas Digne’s corner with a fine header – and that’s how it stayed.
That’s now two clean sheets in a row for Everton since the Premier League’s restart, and Carlo Ancelotti will be understandably happy with that.
Ancelotti saw it fit to make a change at half time though, as he took off Tom Davies in favour of adding Gylfi Sigurdsson to his midfield engine room.
The Icelandic ace has faded out of the picture this season, having turned in a number of disappointing displays for Everton under both Marco Silva and now Ancelotti.
Sigurdsson impressed today though, with the 30-year-old proving to be a calming influence in midfield whilst allowing Everton to gain control of the game.
Fans took to Twitter to offer praise to Sigurdsson, suggesting that he looked ‘miles better’ and so did the team with him in it.
Others couldn’t believe they were saying it, but felt that Sigurdsson made a real difference – and hope that continues going forward.
