Everton fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Gareth Barry’s display in West Brom’s defeat to Manchester City on Saturday, and it is safe to say that they are quite disappointed that he is no longer a member of the Toffees squad.

The 36-year-old bagged both assists for the Baggies, but they were beaten 3-2 by Pep Guardiola’s men, meaning that their wait for a win now stretches to eight games in the Premier League, leaving them just two points above the bottom three in the top flight.

One of the teams currently in the bottom three is Barry’s old side Everton, who have, obviously, endured a miserable start to the season, having also won just twice in the league this term.

One of the Toffees’ main problems has been finding the back of the net, with just seven goals coming in their opening nine games. And while the lack of a marquee striker has been a key reason for their struggles, their midfield have arguably failed to make much of an impression as well.

And although Barry’s performance was not perfect by any means, the fact that he contributed both assists – including a brilliantly weighted pass over the top for Jay Rodriguez for West Brom’s first – attracted the attention of some Everton fans.

Some expressed their disappointment that Ronald Koeman allowed the veteran to leave Goodison Park for The Hawthorns in the summer as it appears that he may have been able to bring something to the Toffees team had he stuck around.

Here is the best of the reaction…
