Everton drew 0-0 at home with Liverpool this afternoon.

Everton put a dent in Liverpool’s Premier League title hopes this afternoon as they drew 0-0 with the Reds at Goodison Park.

After a dismal run of form, Everton had renewed confidence following a 3-0 win over Cardiff City in midweek, but had to battle against their bitter rivals.

Mohamed Salah squandered a couple of fine openings for Liverpool, but they couldn’t break down a resolute Everton side this afternoon.

Marco Silva’s side were strong and determined, and whilst they were on top late on, a point was probably a fair result in the latest Merseyside derby.

A number of performers were outstanding for Everton, and striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin really caught the eye with a battling display up against Virgil van Dijk.

After scoring against Cardiff in midweek, Calvert-Lewin was given the nod up top, and he gave Van Dijk and Joel Matip a tough afternoon with his running, effort and physicality.

He didn’t exactly come close to scoring, but the 21-year-old was a nuisance all day before being replaced by Cenk Tosun.

Everton fans have been taking to Twitter in order to hail Calvert-Lewin’s performance, claiming he was ‘really good’ and ‘fantastic’, noting that he wasn’t afraid of Van Dijk and gave the Dutchman a real game, with some detractors even admitting that he impressed.
