Bernard was one of Everton’s better players at St James’s Park on Saturday.

What a dreadful day it was for Everton on Saturday.

Marco Silva’s side looked on course for a second win in three Premier League outings, the other being a very respectable 0-0 draw with Liverpool last weekend.

The Toffees cruised into a 2-0 half-time lead away to Newcastle United, who scored three second-half goals without reply to stun Everton.

Salomon Rondon pulled one back for Newcastle midway through the second half, before a late double from Ayoze Perez sealed a dramatic three points for the Magpies.

Everton fans are furious – and rightly so – but some of them on Twitter put annoyances to one side to highlight Bernard’s display at St James’s Park.

The 26-year-old winger was not as impressive as he was versus the Reds last week, but he still had some magical moments which dazzled fans of the Merseyside club yesterday.

It’s been a lukewarm first season for the Brazilian star in England, following a summer switch from Shakhtar Donetsk.

The Everton ace has been blowing hot and cold, like so many of Silva’s squad it must be said, but days like yesterday are big reminders of his future potential for the Blues.
