Everton ran out 2-0 winners in the League Cup last night, but they did not entirely impress.

Everton fans have suggested that they never want to see Andre Gomes and Fabian Delph play in central midfield together again.
Everton ran out 2-0 winners over Watford in the League Cup yesterday evening, but their performance in the contest wasn’t entirely convincing.
Everton were particularly poor in the first-half, as they struggled to break Watford down.
The Toffees did improve after the break, and went on to progress fairly comfortably.
But Everton fans have suggested that the partnership of Gomes and Delph in midfield didn’t work.
If Marco Silva does avoid playing Gomes and Delph together again then it could complicate things in central midfield.
Delph was brought to Everton to play regularly, but if he cannot function alongside Gomes then his chances of breaking into the side could be reduced.
Gomes’s position in Everton’s team is fairly secure, as he is been one of their star players over the past two seasons now.
If Silva does decide that Gomes and Delph can’t play together, like many supporters suggest, then it could be that Tom Davies is given a run of games.
