Wayne Rooney made a goalscoring return for Manchester United yesterday as they beat Burnley 2-0.
Rooney was starting his first league game of 2017, stepping back in at the perfect time after Zlatan Ibrahimovic suffered a serious knee injury on Thursday in the Europa League.
Rooney is thought to be in his final season at United but can still end his tenure at Old Trafford on a high.

His next club is widely anticipated to be his former one, with Everton boss Ronald Koeman admitting earlier this season he would welcome a move for England’s record goalscorer, SkySports reported.
Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho warned ahead of the game that Rooney was not at full fitness or sharpness, but he lasted all 90 minutes, made 73 touches, and the goal was the best case scenario.
With Zlatan out Rooney could get a run in the team, and there could be plenty more to come from him.
Rooney is still just 31 and despite his lack of starts this season he has five assists, creating three chances yesterday.
His role at Everton next season would depend on whether Romelu Lukaku stays or goes, and Toffees supporters are split on whether he would be a good addition, or is simply washed up.
