Everton have announced that Tom Davies has signed a new long-term contract at Goodison Park.

Several Everton fans have taken to Twitter to express their delight at the news that the club confirmed on their official website that Tom Davies has signed a new contract with the Toffees.

Davies has had a somewhat difficult season. The 20-year-old has struggled to hold down a place in Marco Silva’s side, making just 10 Premier League starts throughout the campaign.

But the midfielder has captained the club on a number of occasions, and there appears to be every chance that he will wear the armband a lot more often in the future.

Everton have announced on their website that Davies has agreed a four-year deal that is set to keep him on Merseyside until 2023. For many supporters, it is a fantastic piece of news after what has been a much more encouraging run for Silva’s men of late.

Davies is being backed by many to be a real star of the future for the Toffees, and getting his future addressed looks to be a very good piece of business from Marcel Brands and Silva.

But there have also been some calls for Davies to be loaned out next season following the announcement, as some fans have their concerns that his progress may stagnate if he is not playing regularly.
