Everton drew 1-1 with Crystal Palace on Friday evening as Ronald Koeman’s men let a 1-0 lead slip at Goodison Park.
The Toffees were looking to bounce back from last weekend’s 1-0 away defeat to Bournemouth, and looked to be on course for a victory after Romelu Lukaku bent home a superb free kick.

However, Palace hit back in the second half, as Lukaku’s fellow Belgian international Christian Benteke placed a superb header into the corner of the net.
In truth, Everton were poor in the second half, and a number of players struggled to make an impact, such as Bryan Oviedo, Ross Barkley and ex-Palace winger Yannick Bolasie – but Tom Cleverley’s performance particularly frustrated fans.

Cleverley was a surprise selection in Koeman’s starting line-up, as he started on the left hand side of midfield in place of Kevin Mirallas.
The former Manchester United and Aston Villa midfielder ultimately made little impact on the game, and Koeman sprung another surprise when he chose to introduce Mirallas a substitute for Barkley instead of Cleverley.

After the game, Everton fans took to Twitter to slam Cleverley’s display, suggesting that he gave possession away on a number of occasions, and urged Koeman to keep him away from the first-team in future.
Others believe that Cleverley should be sent to play for the Under-21’s with Oumar Niasse, whilst some even think that youngster Tom Davies should be ahead of Cleverley in the pecking order.
