Everton are reportedly showing an interest in Belgian midfielder Dennis Praet.

Praet joined Sampdoria 12 months ago after enjoying five years with Anderlecht. He is valued at £18.5 million, as reported by The Times.
The report claims that Newcastle have shown a keen interest in the player, and have sent scouts to watch the 23-year-old in Sampdoria’s match against Benevento.

However, they could face a strong competition from the Merseyside outfit.
Everton have spent big this summer and bolstered almost every areas of the pitch, landing the likes of Jordan Pickford, Michael Keane, Davy Klaassen, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Sandro Ramirez and Wayne Rooney. However, Ronald Koeman is still looking to add one or two players before the window closes.

Koeman has added attacking players like Klaassen, Rooney and Sigurdsson to his squad this summer, and it is highly unlikely that he would add Praet to his squad, when investment is required elsewhere.
Praet suffered a frustrating campaign last season with just one goal and one assist, and Everton fans are skeptical (judging by their reactions on Twitter) about the potential move.
