Everton full-back made a return for the under-23s last night.

Seamus Coleman made a triumphant return for Everton last night in an under-23 fixture.
The fan favourite has been out of action with a broken leg since early last year, sustaining the injury in an international fixture between Ireland and Wales.
Coleman has missed 10 months of action and last night he helped Everton’s under-23 side to a win over Portsmouth in the Premier League Cup.

David Unsworth’s side won the match 3-0, and Coleman played almost an hour before being withdrawn, a pre-planned substitution.
Simply playing for almost 60 minutes was a big step in the right direction for Coleman, and Everton are clearly being cautious in not rushing him back too early.

Coleman did not look to have any ill effects from his injury, and got stuck in with what the Liverpool Echo described as a ‘full blooded tackle’.
Prior to his injury Coleman was regarded as one of the Premier League’s best and most consistent right-backs, and getting back to that level will continue to be a journey for him.
The Toffees have been playing England under-20 World Cup winner Jonjoe Kenny at right-back in recent weeks and he will be doing his utmost to keep Coleman at bay.
Here is a look at how Everton fans reacted to Coleman’s comeback…
