Everton fans have taken to social networking site Twitter to give their reaction to Sam Allardyce’s comments about the team’s target next season.
Speaking in his press conference today, as quoted by The Liverpool Echo, the former Newcastle United and West Ham United manager suggested that Everton’s target next season will be to finish seventh or eighth in the Premier League.
Allardyce told The Liverpool Echo when asked what he is hoping for next season: “I think where we are – seventh last year, eighth at the moment – we want to try to maintain that position (until the end of the season). But it all depends on the recruitment in the summer.
“What the quality of player might be, where is he, does he want to come to Everton? Can we get him through the door to make us better?”
Everton fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to comments from Allardyce, who earns £6 million per year as salary according to The Daily Mail – they are not happy.
When Allardyce was appointed the Everton manager, Everton were struggling in the Premier League and were in danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.
Things have improved under the former Newcastle manager, with the Toffees safe from the drop and looking set to finish in the top 10 of the Premier League table.
The Toffees are eighth in the Premier League table at the moment with 48 points from 36 matches, six points behind seventh-placed Burnley.
