Free agent Hal Robson-Kanu has become one of the most in-demand players around having impressed for Wales at Euro 2016 – and Everton have reportedly joined the race for his signature.
Robson-Kanu, 27, came up through the ranks with Reading having joined from Arsenal back in 2004, and whilst he had loan spells with Southend United and Swindon Town, he’s made his name with Reading.
Primarily a winger, Robson-Kanu hit 30 goals in 228 games for the Royals, but chose to walk away from the Madejski Stadium when his contract expired earlier this summer.
Robson-Kanu decided to bet on himself impressing at the European Championships, and that’s just what has happened, as he’s been a key part of Wales’ superb run to the semi-finals of the European Championships.
Robson-Kanu’s spectacular goal against Belgium on Friday, which saw him Cruyff turn his way past three Belgian defenders, has catapulted the forward into the spotlight – and he’s arguably the most in-demand free agent in European football after his displays in France.
A host of clubs have been linked with Robson-Kanu, and now the Daily Mail report that Everton have joined the race to land the Welshman on a free transfer.
Fans have been taking to Twitter ever since the report emerged on Monday evening, and it’s fair to say that fans are less than pleased with the possibility of signing Robson-Kanu.
Supporters believe that Everton, with their new-found millions thanks to Farhad Moshiri, should be targeting players like Juan Mata, Axel Witsel and even Tottenham-bound striker Vincent Janssen rather than Robson-Kanu.
The consensus among Everton fans is that Robson-Kanu isn’t good enough for the Premier League, and the Toffees shouldn’t be drawn in by his strong displays at Euro 2016 – even on a free transfer…
