Everton are reportedly nearing a deal for Jonas Lossl.

Everton will be in the market for a number of signings this summer having missed out on European football, but fans may be a little surprised with the first target of the summer.

The Toffees are expected to bring in a central midfielder, right back, winger and striker this summer, but another goalkeeper appears to be heading to Goodison Park.

Foot Mercato report that Huddersfield Town goalkeeper Jonas Lossl is set to sign a two-year deal with Everton, and has even completed his medical already.

The 30-year-old joined the Terriers on loan from Mainz in 2017, and having impressed in Huddersfield’s first Premier League campaign, his move became permanent.

Lossl has made more than 50 Premier League appearances but lost his place to Ben Hamer at the end of this season, with Huddersfield knowing that the Dane was leaving on a free transfer.

Lossl now appears to be heading to Everton in order to offer competition to first choice Jordan Pickford, with some feeling that his alleged arrival is a smart move for free.

Whilst Lossl’s arrival is likely to impact Maarten Stekelenburg’s position, some Everton fans are questioning Joao Virginia’s position at Goodison Park.

Marcel Brands lured Virginia from Arsenal last summer, and he starred for Everton’s Under-23’s this season, with some fans believing that he should have been promoted to second choice instead of bringing in Lossl.
