Saturday afternoon saw them playing their first game of the pre-season routine as they took on FK Jablonec in a behind closed doors friendly.

In a tight game in which neither side shone, it was the Blues who came out on top as Brendan Galloway’s solitary goal gave them a 1-0 win, their first under Ronald Koeman.
The Dutchman was obviously keen to give his stars a proper run out in his first game, and one of those he used was much-maligned forward Oumar Niasse.

The striker has been a massive failure at Goodison Park since arriving from Lokomotiv Moscow in a £13.5 million deal.
He will be hoping he can impress his new manager across this summer and shone briefly as he went past three men and hit the post with a fine run early on.
