Everton ended their pre-season preparations with a 2-0 win over Preston North End on Saturday afternoon.
The Toffees welcomed Allan to the club on Saturday morning, and then went and beat the Championship side in comfortable fashion.
Jonjoe Kenny nipped in to open the scoring for Everton before Dominic Calvert-Lewin added a second after the break.
Carlo Ancelotti will be pleased with his side’s performance, especially as left back Niels Nkounkou played a starring role.
First-choice left back Lucas Digne is on international duty with France, meaning Nkounkou was called in to start against Preston.
The 19-year-old joined Everton from Marseille this summer, signing a three-year deal on a free transfer having rejected a professional deal at Marseille.

Nkounkou looked like a real talent in Everton’s 2-0 win, playing the full 90 minutes as he attempts to show that he is worthy of being Digne’s backup this season.
Everton fans have taken to Twitter to rave about Nkounkou, calling him ‘a right talent’, ‘some player’, ‘exciting’ and ‘a gem’.
Others praised Marcel Brands, believing the Everton director of football has made ‘some signing’ and found an absolute ‘steal’ in the teenager.
