Schneiderlin was selected to start for Everton yesterday, but he let his teammates down by getting sent off.
The Toffees collapsed against Lyon, and Schneiderlin’s needless red card rather summed up their problems.
Everton had matched the French side for over an hour, but as soon as Lyon went ahead through Memphis Depay, David Unsworth’s side rolled over.
Schneiderlin was clearly frustrated with his team’s rapid demise, but his decision to swipe at a Lyon player, while on a yellow, was highly questionable.
And Everton fans have slammed Schneiderlin for showing a shocking attitude during the fixture.
Everton are now out of the Europa League, leaving them free to concentrate on Premier League matters.
The Toffees are currently in 18th place in the top flight table, with their next match coming against Watford on Sunday.
