Everton missed out on Moussa Sissoko to Tottenham.
Everton’s aim to sign Moussa Sissoko on transfer deadline day was thwarted by Tottenham Hotspur, who stole in to complete a deal with minutes to spare.
It had at one stage appeared he was destined to sign for Everton, with SkySports reporting he was travelling to the Toffees for a medical, before Spurs stole in to complete his signature.

While Sissoko would have been a gamble for Everton at £30 million, and very much is for Tottenham after his poor performances for Newcastle last season – being beaten to the punch so publicly was not ideal for the Toffees.
There was not much they could do about Tottenham’s offer, with Mauricio Pochettino’s side trumping them with their ability to offer Champions League football.

It has not been a bad transfer window for Everton, who kept hold of Romelu Lukaku, and they went onto add Ecuadorian striker Enner Valencia in the final stages of deadline day, who joined from West Ham.
Sissoko would have been a useful addition, but they will have to wait for another transfer window to sign a long term replacement for midfield ace Gareth Barry, who turns 36 in February.
