Everton boss Marco Silva started Michael Keane during their Premier League clash against Leicester City on Ney Year’s day.

Everton supporters on Twitter slated defender Michael Keane following his performance during his side’s 1-0 defeat against Leicester City on New Year’s Day at Goodison Park.
After a goalless first half, Claude Puel’s side took the lead just before the hour mark when striker Jamie Vardy pounced on Keane’s mistake to give his side the lead.
Following an opposition goal kick, Theo Walcott, under no pressure, headed an awkward ball back towards Keane in the defensive half, which was badly controlled by the experienced man.
As a result of that mistake, the onrushing Vardy was on hand to win the ball, run through on goal and beat Jordan Pickford to net the only strike of the match.
As expected, the Goodison Park faithful weren’t too pleased with their team’s performance as they have now suffered back-to-back defeats in the league.
Keane did bear the brunt of the supporters criticism by one fan stating that he is ‘terrible in the air’ and ‘runs like a pensioner’.

But others did also point towards Walcott’s ‘shocking’ header back towards his own defence, which fans believe was unhelpful because of the lack of pressure the winger was under.
Here is a selection of Everton supporters on Twitter offering their thoughts on the errors leading to Vardy’s goal:
