Everton are reportedly willing to cash in on Michael Keane at the end of the season after his difficult start to life with the Toffees.

Everton fans have been reacting on Twitter to the reports coming out of the Daily Mirror over the weekend which suggested that the Toffees will consider offers for Michael Keane at the end of the season.

The Mirror reports that Everton paid Burnley £30 million to sign the England centre-back in the summer after his tremendous campaign at Turf Moor. Unfortunately for the Merseyside club, he has been unable to rediscover that form for his new side.

Keane has played 19 times for a team that boast the worst defensive record of any side in the top-half of the Premier League this season, and the Mirror reports that the Toffees are already ready to cash in on the 25-year-old at the end of the campaign.

The Mirror adds that Everton are aware that they will probably have to take a big loss if they want to move him off the club’s books – while former club Burnley are interested in bringing him back, but will not pay anything like what they sold him for.

Interestingly, the news has gone down extremely poorly amongst the Everton fans on social media. Keane may have struggled, but many of the supporters believe that he will get better once he is part of a settled defensive unit and not hampered by the ageing options that Sam Allardyce has available to him.

There has been some support for a potential sale, but the large majority of the fans appear to believe that selling Keane would be a huge mistake at this point and another example of how the club’s transfer policy does not seem to be working.
