Everton winger Aiden McGeady scored a blinder against Leicester City, but what did Toffees fans make of his overall performance?
Aiden McGeady christened a new Premier League season with an outstanding goal for Everton on Saturday.
The former Spartak Moscow player curled in an absolute beauty against Leicester City, beating seven Foxes players with a single swoosh of his leg.
There will be few better goals scored this season, but that was just a single moment in a 90-minute match, so what did the Everton faithful make of the player’s overall showing?
The funny thing was, prior to that strike the 28-year-old had received a fair share of criticism for his performance. And yet his 20th-minute effort changed things in an instant.
His goal was swiftly wiped out by Leicester new boy Leonardo Ulloa, before Steven Naismith’s left-footed shot put the visitors back in the lead. However a late strike from Chris Woods meant the spoils were shared.
McGeady was off the pitch by that point, replaced by Seamus Coleman with five minutes of normal-time to play. But despite the hit-and-miss nature of his performance, the majority of Everton fans whose opinion we found seemed to suggest the player was a good option for the season ahead.
We took to Twitter to see what fans made of McGeady’s showing, and below you can read a selection of what we found:
