Leeds United have completed a deal to sign Everton defender Matthew Pennington on a season-long loan.

Everton fans largely appear to be of the opinion that Matthew Pennington will be a success at Leeds United.

Everton have agreed to loan Pennington to Leeds for the duration of next season, according to Sky Sports.

And Toffees fans feel that the 23-year-old will benefit from spending an entire campaign on loan at Elland Road.

Pennington should get plenty of game time at Leeds, as Thomas Christiansen’s options at centre-back are fairly limited.

Pontus Jansson and Liam Cooper are the only natural centre-halves in Leeds’ squad at this moment in time, following Giuseppe Bellusci’s departure yesterday.

Pennington has earned a handful of appearances for Everton’s first-team, and Ronald Koeman rewarded the youngster with a new long-term contract earlier this year.

However, with Everton bringing in Michael Keane, Pennington’s chances of playing at Goodison Park in the upcoming campaign were slim, and Koeman felt the youngster’s development would be better served out on loan at Leeds.
