Gabbiadini’s excellent start could have teams across the Premier League wishing they took the gamble instead, one of which may be Everton.
The Toffees were linked with a move for Gabbidini on a number of occasions, with SkySports reporting last August they were holding talks over a transfer, and the Liverpool Echo reporting in late December that they were mulling over returning for the forward.

They moved to sign teenager Ademola Lookman in January from Charlton, who scored on his debut, but is considered more as a player for the future, as opposed to one ready to contribute right now like 25-year-old Gabbiadini.
Their hesitance has proved Southampton’s gain, but Toffees supporters are wondering whether they have missed out on a gem.
