Everton’s strong return to action since the Premier League came back continued on Wednesday night with a 2-1 home win over Leicester City.

The Toffees drew 0-0 with Liverpool and then beat Norwich City 1-0, and continued to impress as Carlo Ancelotti racked up another win.

Anthony Gordon was given another start and repaid Ancelotti’s faith, crossing for Richarlison to open the scoring for the Toffees.

Wilfried Ndidi’s handball then gave Everton a rare penalty, which Gylfi Sigurdsson rolled into the net to give Ancelotti’s men a superb start.

Kelechi Iheanacho did scramble in a goal back for Leicester, but despite some erratic goalkeeping from Jordan Pickford, the Foxes couldn’t find a leveller.

Everton move into 11th place in the Premier League table, and won’t have given up hope of European qualification just yet.

A key part of Wednesday’s win as the performance of Lucas Digne, with the French left back turning in a strong display both going forward and defensively.

Everton fans took to Twitter to react to Digne’s display, suggesting that he was back to his best on Wednesday evening, praising his improved defensive work whilst suggesting it’s the best he’s looked in some time.
