Everton face Liverpool this weekend, should the Toffees be running scared?

Sam Allardyce is known for adding defensive steel to the teams he managed, and that reputation is set to be put to an early test this weekend.
While his opening game at home to Huddersfield was as kind as the the fixture list could have been… this weekend they have their work cut out against rivals Liverpool.
The Reds won their Champions League game against Spartak Moscow last night in utterly dominant fashion, and looked absolutely fantastic.

Everton are re-discovering their confidence after a difficult start to the season, but the progress over the last couple of months could be undone with a mauling this weekend in the Merseyside derby.
To make matters more complicated, Everton have a dead rubber of a Europa League fixture tonight, but Sam Allardyce is not even travelling to Cyprus for it, and has dispatched a squad of fringe players and youngsters, so not to impede on his preparations.

Liverpool will head into the game as heavy favourites, and while Everton are getting back on track, the Reds’ big win has not exactly filled Toffees’ fans with confidence – although some remain hopeful they can pull off a big shock.
