Everton have sold Jose Baxter to Oldham.

Everton have said goodbye to Jose Baxter for a second time, after surprisingly re-signing him last summer.
Baxter’s career was in the doldrums after failing a drugs test while at Sheffield United in 2015 and being released by the Blades a year later, having picked up a lengthy FA ban, BBC Sport reported.

Baxter was an Everton youth product who originally left the Toffees in 2012, signing with Oldham.
Now he has repeated history, re-signing for the Latics six years on.
Baxter’s career went off the rails and Everton did not have to give him a second chance.
The fact they did so is to their credit, as when they signed him, there was never any prospect of him playing for the first team.
Instead he spent the season with Everton’s under-23 team as an overage player.

The former England youth international is now 26-years-old and has a second chance, but the fact Everton still gave him another opportunity still splits supporters.
Here is a look at the reaction to his exit on Twitter…
