And Everton fans believe that they did brilliantly to get so much money for Stones from Manchester City last summer.
Stones has endured a challenging first campaign at City, with doubts still remaining about his defensive ability.
Although Pep Guardiola appears to rate the youngster, Stones needs to prove his critics wrong in the upcoming campaign.
Everton, meanwhile, appear to have moved on since Stones’ departure from Goodison Park.
The Toffees brought in Ashley Williams last summer, and are expected to add another centre-back over the coming weeks.
