Everton are reportedly pushing for Mainz star Jean-Philippe Gbamin.

Jean-Philippe Gbamin of 1. FSV Mainz 05 looks on during the Bundesliga match between FC Bayern Muenchen and 1. FSV Mainz 05 at Allianz Arena on March 17, 2019 in Munich, Germany.

According to Sky Sports, Everton are set to cash in on midfielder Idrissa Gueye, with a £28million move to Paris Saint-Germain believed to be close.

The Toffees have seen Gueye star since joining from Aston Villa in 2016, when they paid just £7.1million to sign him in a bargain move (The Guardian).

Gueye’s exit leaves a huge hole in the Everton midfield, but with a huge profit coming in, Marcel Brands must now go and find a replacement with cash to spend.

Foot Mercato in France now claim that Everton are making Mainz star Jean-Philippe Gbamin their top target, with a £31million deal potentially in the pipeline.

They state that Brands has been looking to sign Gbamin for years having wanted him at PSV Eindhoven, and will now look to finally land the Ivorian this summer.

Gbamin’s agent Bernard Collignon has now told Le Parisien that Gbamin has been ‘ seduced’ by the idea of a move to Goodison Park, meaning a move may well be on the cards.

Everton fans have been taking to Twitter to react, with many believing that the 23-year-old would be a smart replacement for Gueye, even being branded ‘fantastic’.

Some even think Gbamin could end up being an upgrade on Gueye if he can fulfil his potential, with most happy with this potential deal – especially as it would be for a similar price to Gueye.
