Everton midfielder James McCarthy should be back and available in the very near future.

Everton fans are delighted that James McCarthy has confirmed that he is nearing a return from injury.

In an interview with the club’s official website, McCarthy suggested it would not be long until he is back playing again.

And Everton fans are eager to see the Irish midfielder in Marco Silva’s starting line-up.

McCarthy has been out since January with a broken leg, and his return should bolster Silva’s options in midfield.

The 27-year-old will compete with Andre Gomes, Tom Davies, Idrissa Gueye and Morgan Schneiderlin for a place in Everton’s midfield.

McCarthy’s natural energy and dynamism should make him a good option for Silva, who likes his team to press high up the pitch.

Everton are next in action against Crystal Palace at the weekend, and although that game will come too soon for McCarthy he isn’t expected to be sidelined for much longer.
