Everton midfielder was one of the few to impress against Liverpool.
Everton failed to follow up their big win over Arsenal with another victory, slipping to a home defeat to Liverpool last night.
A last minute goal from Sadio Mane gave the Reds a satisfying victory at Goodison Park, leaving Everton in ninth in the Premier League table.

The manner of the defeat was a crushing blow to Everton, and particularly harsh on one player, who battled hard throughout the game to nullify Liverpool’s usually potent attack, Idrissa Gueye.
The summer signing from Aston Villa was relentless in midfield, managing eight interceptions, double the number the rest of the Everton midfield made combined.

Gueye’s eight was also twice the number the entire Liverpool midfield managed (4), with only Jordan Henderson matching his four tackles.
The midfielder did not see too much of the ball in possession, making only 28 passes, but completed 85 per cent of them.
He made four fouls as he sought to break up Liverpool’s rhythm, and his performance was not a one off.
Gueye has been consistently impressive all season for Everton and has proved to be a real bargain buy, but this was not an evening in which he got any reward for his efforts.
If it was any consolation then Everton fans did not fail to notice his performance, praising the midfielder’s efforts on Twitter…
