Everton were embarrassed with a 6-2 home defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, but bounced back in style against Burnley today.

The Toffees were off to a great start as Yerry Mina headed the opener after two minutes, and Lucas Digne made it 2-0 on 13 minutes.

Gylfi Sigurdsson made it three from the penalty spot, and whilst Ben Gibson pulled one back for Burnley, that’s as good as it got for the hosts.

Digne scored again before substitute Richarlison put the cherry on top of the cake with a fifth in the dying stages, sealing a 5-1 victory.

It was the perfect response from Marco Silva’s side, and the Portuguese boss was certainly rewarded for his decision to bring Bernard back into the side.

The Brazilian ace was only on the bench against Spurs, but was back to his best against Burnley, starring with a superb display behind Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Everton fans have been taking to Twitter to rave about the diminutive playmaker who was signed by Marcel Brands over the summer, praising him as ‘outstanding’, ‘unreal’ and ‘excellent’ for his showing today.
