Andre Gomes was extremely impressive in the middle of the park as Everton secured a point at Stamford Bridge.
A number of Everton fans are now desperate to see the Toffees do all they can to turn Andre Gomes’ loan move to Goodison Park into a permanent deal after his display against Chelsea.
Gomes has taken little time to adapt to his new surroundings following his recent debut for Marco Silva’s men, and he was picked alongside Idrissa Gueye at the heart of Everton’s midfield at Stamford Bridge.
The Toffees secured an impressive point against the high-flying Blues. Gomes once again displayed his class, working extremely well with Gueye to help largely keep the home side quiet. It was the first time since September that Maurizio Sarri’s men have failed to score in a game.
It was the kind of performance that convinced many Everton supporters that a permanent deal for Gomes has to be one of the club’s priorities in the future transfer windows.
Gomes has made a sensational start to life at Goodison Park and certainly looked right at home up against one of the most impressive midfield units in the Premier League on Sunday.
Some have even suggested that Gomes is potentially one of the club’s best midfielders since Mikel Arteta was plying his trade on Merseyside, with comparisons being drawn between the two.
