Speculation has mounted that Aaron Lennon could leave Everton this summer.
The Mirror reported on Sunday that Watford are interested in signing the 30-year-old winger as Marco Silva looks to inject a bit of pace into his side.
It remains to be seen what role Everton boss Ronald Koeman envisages for the England international next season.
Koeman has spent £100 million on new signings this summer and some of those – namely Sandro Ramirez, if the Dutchman uses him out wide – could impact Lennon’s role.
That being said, the Toffees are yet to sign and out-and-out winger to compete with him so he might well still have a future under the former Southampton boss – and a lot of Everton fans on Twitter certainly hope that’s the case.
Lennon suffered well-documented mental health issues in the second half of last season but appears to be on the comeback trail and has been heavily involved in Everton’s pre-season training.
His pace is certainly invaluable and Koeman might well think it best to keep him on Merseyside beyond this summer. His contract expires next summer, though.
