Romelu Lukaku has left Everton with a decision to make after rejecting a new deal at Goodison Park.
Everton’s Romelu Lukaku
Everton fans have been reacting on Twitter following the news that Romelu Lukaku has put any interested club on alert by rejecting a new contract at Goodison Park.
According to BBC Sport, the Toffees put a deal worth £140,000 a week over five years on the table for the striker, who has two years left on his current contract.
However, Lukaku has decided to knock back the offer that would have seen him move onto the most lucrative contract in the club’s history, according to BBC Sport, leaving the Everton hierarchy with a decision to make.
While BBC Sport adds that Everton are still going to try and keep the 23-year-old on Merseyside, they will look for a fee of over £60 million if they become resigned to selling him.

Interestingly, the news has received a mixed response on social media. While the general consensus amongst Everton fans is that they would like to see Lukaku stay put – and some are adamant that the club need to keep him if they hope to progress – others have seemed less bothered.
While the Belgian’s record is excellent – he has scored 19 times in 27 league games this term – some supporters feel that if Lukaku does not want to stay, the club should let him go and replace him with someone who does want to play for the club.
Here is the best of the reaction…
