No confirmation of Gueye’s deal has ever arrived from Everton.

Everton appeared to have tied Idrissa Gana Gueye to a new contract without informing their fans.
A document accessible via the Football Association website states that Gueye signed a new deal on October 26th, 2017 – although no official confirmation ever arrived from the club.
The above date is only three days after Everton’s sacking of Ronald Koeman as manager and even more interestingly, the day before David Unsworth – the Toffees’ then caretaker boss – told Sky Sports the Senegal midfielder was ‘very close’ to putting pen to paper.

Understandably, Everton fans are somewhat bemused by the situation and are reacting in their numbers on Twitter.
Here are some of their responses…
Gueye’s existing contract, which he signed on his arrival at Goodison Park from Aston Villa, approaching two years ago, was due to expire in June 2020.
However, it is understood the fresh terms will tie the 28-year-old to Everton for another two years after that.
Is this the strangest season Everton have ever had?
