Tom Davies did not have his best game for Everton on Saturday.

Everton fans were treated to the sight of Davy Klaassen on Saturday.

Sam Allardyce’s side beat Brighton & Hove Albion 2-0 at Goodison Park but the return of the Dutch midfielder was arguably the big talking point from the win.

The former Ajax captain was given a six-minute cameo for what was his first Premier League appearance since September, having gone off the boil in a big way following his £25 million summer move from the Dutch side.

But the man he replaced – Tom Davies – has been receiving a bit of stick for his performance on Twitter.

Davies, a local Everton lad, has had another good season with the Toffees but struggled against the Seagulls – especially in the final third – and some fans of the Goodison Park side weren’t hugely impressed yesterday.

Davies is indeed still a prospect, given that he doesn’t turn 20 until June, and the fact that he’s been around for a while now has done him no favours.

The youngster has been in Everton’s first-team squad and playing fairly regularly for over a year, so perhaps fans think he is older than he is and therefore overlook his inexperience.
