The Toffees stopper hailed his side’s resilience and “high level” against the Terriers but some fans disagreed with what he had to say.

Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has spoken out after his side’s 1-0 win at Huddersfield Town on Tuesday night by praising the Toffees’ resilience against the Terriers.
Marco Silva earned somewhat of a reprieve after last weekend’s 3-2 loss at Millwall in the FA Cup with all three points against the Premier League’s bottom side.
Forward Richarlison scored the only goal of the game from a rebound in the third minute after his initial shot was saved, although Everton were down to 10 men for the final 24 minutes after Lucas Digne brought down Adama Diakhaby.
Huddersfield had several chances, such as Aaron Mooy seeing his free kick saved by Pickford, while the England goalkeeper also kept out Elias Kachunga’s header as the Toffees held on for victory at the John Smith’s Stadium.
Speaking after the game, Pickford told the official Everton website: “I think we showed a lot of character. Now we need to step up and keep that level high. We’ve got to go into every game and be resilient as a unit. We kept a clean sheet and a lot of hard work went into it.”
Some of the reaction to Pickford’s comments on Twitter was negative, however, with some fans thinking the team could be doing much better:
The result saw Everton climb to eighth in the Premier League table and the Merseysiders will now be hoping for a second consecutive win when they host Wolverhampton Wanderers at Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon.
