Ryan Gauld has told Everton fans what they can expect from Marco Silva.
Sporting Lisbon’s Scottish midfielder Ryan Gauld has told Everton’s official website that new Toffees manager Marco Silva will bring positivity to training at Finch farm – and fans have reacted by urging the club to sign the playmaker.
Gauld, 22, joined Sporting from Scottish Premiership side Dundee United back in the summer of 2014, but he has failed to have an impact with the Portuguese giants.
He has made just five Sporting appearances, instead being left to rot on the sidelines or indeed on loan – spending the entire 2017-18 campaign with Portuguese minnows Desportivo Aves.
Silva managed Sporting during the 2014-15 season before moving to Olympiakos, helping Gauld through his development and the Scotland youth international was full of praise for his old boss.
“He is a very positive person on the training ground. He encourages you all the time,” Gauld said. “And, most importantly, everyone can pick up that he knows exactly what he is talking about. Everyone respects that and likes working for a manager with his type of personality.”
TeamTalk claimed last week that a handful of Premier League clubs and Scottish Premiership giants Rangers are keen – with Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and Liverpool all keeping tabs on the pocket-sized attacker.
Everton fans reacted to Gauld’s comment by suggesting that they want their club to sign the youngster and form a reunion with Silva at Goodison Park. One fan Tweeted: “I’d love to sign this lad.”
