Monday’s 2-1 win over Tunisia came thanks to a last-gasp Harry Kane goal, but there were no such nerves or concerns today as England romped to a convincing win.
John Stones powered a header into the corner of the net from Kieran Trippier’s corner to hand England the lead, before Kane’s penalty made it 2-0 after Jesse Lingard had been fouled.

Lingard himself made it 3-0 with a superb curling finish from long range, before Stones added a fourth, and Kane grabbed his hat-trick with another penalty and a deflection from Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s shot.
Panama did get their first ever World Cup goal thanks to Felipe Baloy’s strike, but the day belonged to England as Gareth Southgate’s men celebrated a thumping World Cup victory.
Southgate decided to make just one change from the side which beat Tunisia, and that was enforced as Loftus-Cheek came in for the injured Dele Alli, with the Chelsea ace handed a first ever World Cup start.
The 22-year-old won’t have grabbed any headlines with his display, and he did pick up a yellow card, but he was a solid performer in the England engine room, on the day that The Mirror claimed Everton are hoping to lure him to Goodison Park on loan for next season.
Unsurprisingly, Toffees fans took to Twitter during and after England’s display, with some desperate to see the Toffees sign him, and others less than convinced after an ‘invisible’ performance in the England midfield, whilst some feel that a move is simply unrealistic right now.
