Paulo Fonseca has been repeatedly linked with a move to Everton.
Shakhtar Donetsk manager Paulo Fonseca has ridiculed rumours suggesting he is set to be offered a new £8m-a-year deal to remain in charge of the Ukranian giants – and Everton fans have reacted with delight.
The Sun claims that the 45-year-old manager was to be offered a huge new pay rise by Shakhtar in order to keep the Portuguese boss at the club, with Everton said to be keeping tabs on his situation.
However, Fonseca told Ukranian outlet Football.UA that rumours of a new contract are “not true”, meaning he is set to remain on his current deal which expires at the end of the season with the Champions League club.
The pressure is beginning to mount on the shoulders of Sam Allardyce, who watched his side produce another lacklustre display under his guidance as the Toffees suffered a 3-1 defeat to Manchester City – boasting just 18 percent possession.
Fans are becoming disillusioned at Goodison Park and have reacted to Fonseca’s comments with delight on Twitter after hearing that the former Porto boss declare that there is no contract on the table worth £8million a year.
One fan is seemingly confident that Fonseca is set to join the Merseyside club, posting “he is on his way”.
