Green left Everton in 2015 and is now playing in Norway.

Everton fans have reacted in numbers after one of their ex-players sided with Joey Barton on David Unsworth.

Barton laid into Unsworth on Talksport earlier this week, describing Everton’s caretaker manager as a ‘glorified PE teacher’.

And after the Toffees’ 3-0 in Lyon on Thursday, which brought an end to their Europa League adventure with two games to spare, their former midfielder George Green also chimed in.

Green, who was on Everton’s books at the same time as Unsworth, the club’s regular Under-23 team coach, posted on Twitter:

It is fair to say that Green’s tweet was not at all well received, with several Everton fans quick to remind the 21-year-old of his own flaws since he moved to Goodison Park for an initial six-figure fee at the age of 14.
