According to Sky Sports, Sheffield United are close to completing the signing of Wigan Athletic’s Antonee Robinson.
The report claims that the Blades have a bid of around £2 million accepted for the young full-back who has gone through an emotional roller coaster since the turn of the year.
Robinson was reportedly close to securing a move to Italian giants AC Milan in January. The Rossoneri had agreed on an initial £6 million fee with Wigan for the Englishman but issues with his medical completely ruined the proposed move. (BBC)
With Wigan now in desperate need of money through player sales, Robinson was always expected to make a move away from the club and it now looks like he will be heading to the Premier League in the coming days.
Sheffield United, if the reports are to be believed, have snapped up a highly talented defender for an absolute bargain. Robinson could prove to be a huge success under Chris Wilder but his career could have panned out very differently.
The now 23-year-old was a part of Everton’s ranks since he was 11. Robinson came through the Toffees academy but failed to make a single senior appearance for them in any competition.

He left the Toffees permanently last summer to join Wigan but had Everton kept hold of him, he could have been very useful for them now.
Leighton Baines announced his retirement recently which leaves the Toffees with just Lucas Digne as their senior left-back. Some Everton fans feel Robinson could have been a brilliant understudy to the Frenchman but it now looks like the Toffees’ loss is Sheffield United’s gain.
