Everton are expected to be busy in this summer’s transfer window. The Toffees need at least four players in four different positions and, if reports are to be believed, they have their targets set.
A new central midfielder has to be their top priority. Everton are yet to replace Idrissa Gueye and that has been one of the biggest reasons why they under-performed last season.
Signing a central defender is also hugely important considering Everton are terribly short in that area, while their right side of the pitch could do with some work in the coming weeks.
Theo Walcott hasn’t been consistent enough, while Alex Iwobi and Bernard are nowhere near as good on the right flank as they are on the left.
Djibril Sidibe’s departure also brings up the need for a new right-back to compete with Seamus Coleman. Jonjoe Kenny was expected to be the heir to the Irishman’s throne, but it looks like the Toffees aren’t fully convinced by his performances.
Gianluca Di Marzio claimed on Monday that Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti was interested in AC Milan’s Alessandro Florenzi. The hugely experienced Italian full-back is out of favour at Ancelotti’s former club and is expected to be available this summer.
The Italian spent the second half of last season out on loan at Valencia. The Spaniards have no intention of re-signing him and Milan would like to get rid of him as well. That puts Everton in a decent position and a move could be possible.
Ancelotti is a hero at AC Milan after everything he did for the Rossoneri as a player as well as their manager. Florenzi would possibly like to work under the legendary Italian, and a move to Merseyside does make sense for all parties.
Everton fans are waiting for their club to make big moves in this window. Florenzi might not be the massive signing they are looking for, but he fills the void they currently have at right-back.
