According to Sport1, representatives from Everton and Tottenham will be present at BayArena in Germany to watch Bayer Leverkusen’s Leon Bailey in action later today.

The Jamaican international has reportedly ‘wooed’ Everton with his performances in the Bundesliga over the years and the Toffees are considering a move for him this summer.

Bailey, despite only being 22, has lots of experience under his belt already. The Jamaican has played almost 200 times for club and country over the years, which is a massive bonus for interested parties.

The youngster has been directly involved in 10 goals in 16 starts in all competitions. That is a fairly decent return for a player of his age, but it has to be said that it has been an underwhelming campaign considering his quality.

Bailey has the ability to offer so much more than his numbers suggest. The youngster is capable of playing on both flanks and is almost equally effective on either side of the striker.

Carlo Ancelotti could do with a new winger. The Toffees have lacked quality out wide despite spending big money on the likes of Alex Iwobi and Theo Walcott in recent years.

Bailey would be a brilliant signing for the Toffees. The Jamaican’s pace, dribbling skills and versatility could give Ancelotti options but he will not be cheap.

The report claims that Leverkusen will demand a fee in the region of £36 million. That is a lot of money for a 22-year-old; especially in this difficult financial climate.

However, Everton have shown that they are not afraid to spend big money in recent years, and Toffees fans would love it if they can sign Bailey before the start of next season.

Here is how a few Everton supporters reacted to the news on Twitter:
