Le10 Sport claim that Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti is ‘very interested’ in signing Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Lemar.
The Toffees, at one point, looked favourites to finish in one of the European spots. Carlo Ancelotti’s initial magic had worked very well, but just three wins in their final 12 games dropped them out of the top half of the table.
Everton finished the campaign in 12th which simply isn’t good enough considering how ambitious they have been with transfers and with their latest managerial appointment.
The Toffees will again be looking to strengthen their squad and a wide player, along with a midfielder and a centre-half, will be their priorities in this transfer window.
Lemar is a hugely talented player who was a part of that brilliant Monaco side that won the league title a few years ago. The Frenchman earned a massive £52.7 million move to Atletico Madrid (Guardian) but things haven’t worked out for him in the Spanish capital.
The World Cup winner has scored just three times since his big-money move back in the summer of 2018. That is a terrible record for someone who cost so much, but a change in environment could help him thrive.

Ancelotti has helped develop underachieving players in the past and Lemar could well be the next one. However, the report claims that Atleti will not let him leave for cheap which could cause a few problems for the Toffees.
Everton fans are split over the prospect of signing Lemar this summer. Some feel that he hasn’t done enough in recent years to warrant a move to Goodison Park while others feel he could help improve their squad.
