Everton are reportedly closing in on Djibril Sidibe.

Everton have been busy over the last week, tying up deals to sign midfielder Jean-Philippe Gbamin and striker Moise Kean in a major outlay.

The Toffees have bolstered Marco Silva’s side following Idrissa Gueye’s departure, and more signings could be on the way ahead of Thursday’s transfer deadline.

A right back is on Everton’s wish list, having allowed Jonjoe Kenny to leave the club for a loan move to Bundesliga side Schalke.

Seamus Coleman needs competition, and L’Equipe now report that Everton are on the verge of signing Monaco defender Djibril Sidibe for that role.

Sidibe, 26, won the World Cup with France last summer, but then endured something of a disappointing campaign in a turbulent season for Monaco.

Sidibe ticks the boxes for Everton as an experienced right back with some versatility to play at left back too, and it’s a low risk move taking him on loan for the season, with a £12.75million permanent clause included.

Djibril Sidibe of France celebrates with the World Cup following the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia Final between France and Croatia at Luzhniki Stadium on July 15, 2018 in Moscow, Russia.

That gives Everton major flexibility for the future given that Kenny will be back next summer, and Everton fans have taken to Twitter to react to the rumour.

Everton fans feel that Marcel Brands has pulled off another superb deal by teeing up a move for Sidibe, with many loving the loan-to-buy nature of the move, feeling that that he can really compete with Coleman for playing time, possibly even overtaking him.

Many feel that the permanent clause is a bargain, and believe that whilst Sidibe struggled last season, he must still have quality if Brands has made a move.
