Everton fans have been reacting to reports they are set to sign Algerian international Ramy Bensebaini.

Everton are reported by The Star to be closing in on Rennes centre-back Ramy Bensebaini.

The 23-year-old is a promising talent said to be worth £13.5 million and is said to be set for a move to Goodison Park as new boss Marco Silva reshapes his Toffees squad.

L’Equipe claim Everton chiefs are in advanced talks to land the versatile defender who still has two years remaining on his contract with the Ligue 1 side.

The report states that Everton aren’t alone in their interest after Bensebaini’s impressed with his displays for Algeria.

German outfit Stuttgart are also said to have enquired about the ace, who is equally comfortable playing left-back or defensive midfield.

Silva has had a quiet start to the transfer window with just over a month remaining and an ageing defence to desperately reshape.

Since those reports claiming the signing was on the cards, the Liverpool Echo has denied the speculation saying the club is not interested in the star.

It has left Toffees fans scratching their head over what is going on with time ticking to get transfers bedded in during pre-season.

Bensebaini would be Silva’s first signing for Everton since taking over from Sam Allardyce but Toffees fans don’t seem convinced judging by reactions on Twitter.
