Everton bounced back from two Premier League defeats in a row by beating Fulham 3-0 at Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon.

The Toffees had lost 3-1 at home to West Ham United and then 2-0 away at Arsenal, with Marco Silva winning just one of his first six games in charge of the club.

Silva needed to hit back against Fulham this weekend, and he got what he wanted with a comfortable victory over a porous Cottagers defence at Goodison Park.

It looked like being a frustrating afternoon for Everton when Gylfi Sigurdsson squandered the chance to score from the penalty spot, but the Icelandic playmaker made amends by opening the scoring with a fine left-footed strike.

Cenk Tosun then ended his goal drought with the second from Theo Walcott’s cross, and Sigurdsson grabbed his second and Everton’s third in the 89th minute to wrap up all three points.

Sigurdsson deservedly claimed the plaudits for his two-goal performance, but fans were also hugely impressed with defender Kurt Zouma’s contribution in the victory.

The French centre back is on loan at Everton from Chelsea for the season, and he starred alongside Michael Keane in the heart of the Toffees defence on Saturday afternoon.

Supporters urged the club to land Zouma permanently to give Everton the long-term solidity they need, with some praising him as ‘immense’, ‘dominant’ and ‘solid’ after his performance against Fulham.
